Trump doubts accepting Wisconsin’s 2024 election outcome
In a recent interview with a Wisconsin newspaper, former President Donald Trump did not firmly commit to accepting the 2024 election results in the state if he lost. Trump emphasized the importance of honesty in the process and highlighted his determination to ensure fair elections. He also drew parallels to his previous reactions to election outcomes in 2016 and 2020. In a recent interview with a Wisconsin newspaper, ex-President Donald Trump hesitated to confirm acceptance of the 2024 election results in the state if defeated. Trump stressed the significance of integrity in elections and referenced his past responses to outcomes in 2016 and 2020.
In a new interview with a local Wisconsin newspaper, former President Donald Trump did not wholeheartedly agree to accept the 2024 election results of the Badger State if he lost.
“If everything’s honest, I’d gladly accept the results,” Trump told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an interview on Wednesday as he rallied in Wisconsin but published Thursday morning. “If it’s not, you have to fight for the right of the country.”

“But if everything’s honest, which we anticipate it will be — a lot of changes have been made over the last few years — but if everything’s honest, I will absolutely accept the results,” Trump continued.
The former president’s remarks were reminiscent of his refusal to accept the results of the 2016 and 2020 elections if they were not in his favor. After the 2020 election, Trump repeatedly claimed the results were “rigged,” which he has maintained despite the results being certified by Congress.
Special counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump last year over allegations he attempted to overturn the election. Trump, however, has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Trump told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he wants “high standards of voting” and would “let it be known” if he has any qualms about election results.
“I’d be doing a disservice to the country if I said otherwise,” Trump said. “But no, I expect an honest election and we expect to win maybe very big.”
“I want people that vote to cast an honest ballot. I want the ballots to be counted honestly,” Trump also added. “I don’t want people going to legislatures and getting things not approved and then doing it anyway.”
Wisconsin is one of the seven battleground states Trump and President Joe Biden are competing over in their repeat matchup in November. Biden won the Badger State in 2020, although during his Wednesday interview, Trump continued to wrongly claim that he had won Wisconsin four years ago.
Trump won the state in 2016, making him the first Republican to win Wisconsin since Ronald Reagan won in 1980 and 1984.
In anticipation of a close election, Trump is working with the Republican National Committee to deploy 100,000 poll watchers to monitor voting across the battleground states.
“Having the right people to count the ballots is just as important as turning out voters on Election Day,” Trump said in a statement last month announcing the poll monitoring program. “Republicans are now working together to protect the vote and ensure a big win on November 5th!”
“The Democrat tricks from 2020 won’t work this time,” RNC chief counsel Charlie Spies chimed in. “In 2024 we’re going to beat the Democrats at their own game and the RNC legal team will be working tirelessly to ensure that elections officials follow the rules in administering elections.”

Trump rallied in Michigan and Wisconsin on Wednesday, the only day of the workweek the former president is not required to be in a New York court for a hush money payment scheme trial.
During his rallies, Trump called the legal cases he is facing “bulls***” and castigated Biden for allegedly waging election interference against Trump.
