John Rich to perform at UNC fraternity supporting American flag
Country music sensation John Rich has committed to performing at a UNC Chapel Hill event called “Flagstock,” arising from a generous fundraiser, where UNC Pi Kappa Phi members valiantly shielded the American flag from desecration during a protest. The fundraiser, exceeding $516,000 in donations, aims to honor these patriots with a celebration fitting their remarkable stand. Country artist John Rich is set to headline the “Flagstock” event at UNC Chapel Hill, stemming from a successful fundraiser. UNC Pi Kappa Phi members protected the American flag during a protest, leading to over $516,000 in donations for a celebration to honor their brave actions.
Country music star John Rich promised he will perform at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, “rager” created out of a massive fundraiser.
A group of UNC Pi Kappa Phi members prevented an American flag on campus from touching the ground or being desecrated by pro-Palestinian protesters by surrounding the flag pole and holding it up. An anonymous group not affiliated with the fraternity set up a fundraiser that has since raised over $516,000 toward a “party they deserve, a party worth of the boat-shoed Broleteriat who did their country proud.”
Rich gave an interview to NewsNation’s On Balance on Thursday to respond to the speculation of how these thousands of dollars will be spent for the party. According to the musician, the party will now be called “Flagstock,” a patriotic take on the iconic Woodstock concert.
“I was so inspired by that, to see young people willing to stand up and — like you said, enough is enough — that I reached out and I said, ‘Boys, I sure am proud of you. When you have that big rager you guys are talking about on GoFundMe, I’d like to show up and play you a free concert,’” Rich said. “It’s going to be an absolute blast man. My phone has not stopped blowing up from artists telling me, ‘Hey, when that show happens, you better call because I’m going to be there.’”
Rich also implied he could write a song about the incident. His most recent release was a country rap song called “End of the World,” which debuted last year, with rapper Tom MacDonald.
This comes after Ultra Right Beer committed to providing an “unlimited” amount of its product for the party. The company told the Washington Examiner it is in contact with the fraternity.

The organizer of the fundraiser issued an update Thursday to clarify that “with over 12,000 donations and almost half a million dollars, it’s incumbent on us to disburse the money in a manner that is faithful to our donors’ intent: throwing these great guys a world class party that will echo across eternity. Fraternities will also have input on sending funds to some great charities in their name, foundations that are consistent with the fundraiser’s patriotic theme.”
These plans include the creation of an independent board of directors to oversee spending.
