This visit was Hamill’s third to the White House, and he specifically noted that it was his inaugural experience inside the Oval Office. Actor Mark Hamill was in Washington on Friday to give President Joe Biden his stamp of approval and make a cameo at the White House press briefing.
This was Hamill’s third White House visit, but he claimed it was his first time inside the Oval Office. He approached the podium wearing Biden’s classic aviator sunglasses.
“I love the merch,” Hamill joked. “But listen, I just want to say I was honored to be asked to come to the White House to meet the president, the most legislatively successful president in my lifetime.
You know, I don’t have to go through the list. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the PACT Act, the CHIPS Act, all that, inflation, 15 million jobs. It’s all good.”
Hamill claimed his expectation was to be with the president for five minutes, but he was given an exclusive look at Biden’s photos and met his staff. The actor did not mention any discussion about policies. He has been involved in Ukraine’s war with Russia as he voices a downloadable app that notifies Ukrainians of air raids.
“I had no idea just what went into what is on his plate on a daily basis,” Hamill said. “It just shows you that one person can be so influential and so positive in our lives.”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also avoided any further detail about Hamill’s visit. She laughed awkwardly when pressed for further detail about what the actor discussed with the president. Instead, the secretary deflected by poking fun at the reporter who asked the question for having not seen Star Wars, the franchise Hamill is most famous for.

“I really wouldn’t put too much into it,” Jean-Pierre said of the meeting. “[President Biden] meets with a lot of people here.”
The last time Hamill visited the White House was during then-President Barack Obama’s term. The time before that was in then-President Jimmy Carter’s term.
