Former President Donald Trump mocked special counsel Jack Smith for “mishandling” the classified documents seized from Mar-a-Lago.

Trump reacted to Smith’s recent filing in the election subversion case against him in which the prosecutor admitted that “there are some boxes where the order of items within that box is not the same as in the associated scans.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump said this filing is further evidence that “Deranged Jack” has used illegal methods to continue this trial against him.

“Now, Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida – That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case,” Trump wrote. “END THE ‘BOXES HOAXES.’”

Smith’s admission contradicts what he told U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, that all the evidence was “in their original, intact form as seized.” However, prosecutors attempted to make a case that the mixup has no significance on the case. They said documents may have shifted while being moved from Mar-a-Lago but did not clarify if that would explain all the inconsistencies.
