Country music artist John Rich praised a UNC fraternity for safeguarding the American flag, emphasizing the significance of young people recognizing the nation’s vulnerability. He shared plans to host a complimentary concert for the UNC Pi Kappa Phi members who defended the flag from potential desecration. The event, named “Flagstock,” is designed to celebrate their bravery.
Country star John Rich continued to acknowledge a fraternity at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, for stepping in to protect the American flag, noting that young people must realize “their country is under attack.”
Rich appeared on Fox and Friends on Saturday to explain why he’s decided to give a free concert for the group of UNC Pi Kappa Phi members who surrounded a flag pole on campus and held up the American flag, preventing it from touching the ground or being desecrated by pro-Palestinian protesters.
“Well, I think young men that show that kind of courage in our country to make sure the United States’ flag does not touch the ground which is what they were doing, which tells me that they were raised correctly, they were taught early on don’t let the flag touch the ground, I was so impressed by that, I was, like, these guys need to be acknowledged and rewarded for that,” Rich said.
According to the musician, the party will now be called “Flagstock,” a patriotic take on the iconic Woodstock concert. Other musicians have been in contact with Rich to have some stage time of their own.
“I really believe that this is a moment that will turn the tide for young people in this country, finally waking up to the fact that their country is under attack,” Rich said. “And they better make sure their voices are heard to push this back while they still can.”

This comes after an anonymous group not affiliated with the fraternity set up a fundraiser that has since raised over $516,000 toward a “party they deserve, a party worth of the boat-shoed Broleteriat who did their country proud.” Ultra Right Beer has committed to providing an “unlimited” amount of its product for the party. Additionally, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) sent Pi Kappa Phi food from Chik-fil-A as another reward.
Pi Kappa Phi members reported to Rich that the money from the fundraiser would go to charity. The GoFundMe organizer promised to create an independent board of directors to oversee spending.
