Doocy asks KJP: “Why do you think Americans are critical of President Biden?
During a White House briefing, Fox News’ Peter Doocy questioned why President Biden’s actions weren’t resonating with Americans. Referencing unfavorable polls, Doocy probed the Press Secretary on Biden’s popularity. Jean-Pierre cited various challenges, steering away from policy criticisms. The exchange highlighted concerns over Biden’s public perception as the 2024 election approaches. In a White House briefing, Fox News’ Peter Doocy questioned why President Biden’s actions weren’t connecting with Americans. Referencing negative polls, Doocy asked the Press Secretary about Biden’s popularity. Jean-Pierre addressed challenges without delving into policy criticisms. The dialogue shed light on Biden’s public image as the 2024 election nears.
Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy grilled White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during Tuesday’s briefing, asking her why nothing President Joe Biden was doing seemed to be really resonating with the American people.
Doocy began by referencing recent polling — very little of which looks good for Biden — and jumped right into what that could mean for Biden in the months left before the 2024 presidential election.
“Why do you think Americans are so down on President Biden right now?” he asked.
“What do you mean?” Jean-Pierre pushed back.
“I know you don’t like to talk about polls, like, the five of six swing states that he is losing right now to somebody who is a criminal offender,” Doocy replied. “But, more broadly, it doesn’t seem like anything you guys are doing is making him more popular. Why do you think that is?”
“So, you — uh — you mentioned a criminal defendant, your words, not mine,” Jean-Pierre said. “So I want to be super mindful about how I answer this question, because obviously, that criminal defendant is also a — in the race for 2024 elections, so going to be super mindful there.”
Jean-Pierre then laid out her prepared litany of reasons — none of them Biden’s policies — that Americans might feel like things weren’t getting better. She listed everything from “Putin’s war” and its impact on gas prices to the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We understand that people are still feeling this. We get that and we’re not — we’re not blind to that,” she continued, claiming that Biden’s economy was working even if people weren’t feeling that.

Doocy pushed back immediately, arguing that the president’s policies were not doing what he had promised they would.
“I get that you understand that people are hurting right now. Why is it that nothing you’re doing to address their concerns is working?” he asked.
“What I’m saying is, we’re going to continue to do the work. I can’t speak to the polls, right? Those are for folks who are experts who can do a deep dive and look into that and speak to them,” Jean-Pierre insisted. “What I can speak to is we understand what the American people is [sic] feeling. We understand what they’re going through. That’s why we’re going to continue to do the work.”

Doocy wrapped up with a vague question that seemed to be addressing the ongoing war between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas — and the concurrent war within the Democrat Party regarding Biden’s recently-vacillating position on Israel.
“Have you considered in the White House that some of President Biden’s recent policy positions could be a turn off to the people that used to like him?” Doocy asked.
Jean-Pierre made no mention of Israel in her answer, instead citing a list of Biden’s policy positions that she claimed were “incredibly popular” — such as working to lower the cost of prescription drugs and overall health care.
