New Great American Media star Alexa PenaVega shared an update with fans about how she and her family were doing after she revealed in April that her daughter, Indy, was stillborn.
In a touching video posted on Tuesday on Instagram, PenaVega broke down at times as she thanked followers for all their prayers after she and husband Carlos PenaVega, announced that their fourth child, a little girl, died during birth.
She captioned her post, “Love you all. Wanted to give everyone an update and thank you all for your kind words and encouraging prayers. They have meant so much to us.”
“So I just want to say, first off that we’re doing well,” the former Hallmark Channel star said. “We’re actually doing really well, considering everything.”
“You know this season, obviously is the most traumatic thing that we’ve ever had to go through as a family, let alone I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything quite like this. And I hope to never ever have to experience anything like this again,” she added. “But it’s been really incredible to see how God has just moved through our family during this time. We have obviously felt a lot of pain. A lot of pain. But also, an insane amount of peace.”

“God has really met us in this place between pain and peace,” the actress continued. “It really doesn’t make any sense other than it is His supernatural peace, that is just covering us and allowing us to still go through grief and to still, you know, walk through this valley, but not alone. And not without purpose.”
The new Great American Media’s Pure Flix star then revealed that after they lost their daughter, her own “health declined a lot. And nobody could figure out what was wrong.”
“But I don’t think I’ve ever surrendered in this way to God in my life,” PenaVega said. “Like you think, ‘God, I’m gonna surrender. I’m gonna surrender. I’m gonna surrender.’ But until you get to this point, you don’t even realize the type of surrender that you’re capable of.”
“And let me tell you, Indy’s little life has transformed us,” she added. “Like, completely. Our family has never been stronger, my faith has never been stronger, my marriage has never been stronger.”
She then began to get very emotional and broke down in tears as she talked about how their daughter’s “life was so purposeful in just that short little bit that we had with her. And while she may not have taken a breath here on earth, she did not go without purpose.”
Alexa and Carlos have been together since 2012 — and married since 2014. They are also parents to two sons, Ocean and Kingston, as well as a daughter, Rio.
