Larry Hogan Introduces ‘OG Governor’ Merch Line in Response to ‘Old Governor’ Label

EXCLUSIVE — Maryland Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan is unveiling an “OG Governor” merch line in response to being donned the “old governor” by Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD).

The Hogan campaign told the Washington Examiner that the former two-term governor, who preceded Moore and was term-limited from running again in 2022, is embracing the label that it feels stands to bolster the popular centrist Republican in a deep-blue state.

“Governor Hogan may be the OG, but he’ll still be the new senator!” the campaign’s new webpage with the merch says.

Supporters can score an “OG Governor” shirt by donating at least $5 to Hogan’s campaign.

Moore has repeatedly made the “old governor” reference to Hogan in recent weeks on social media and in media appearances as he seeks to promote the Democratic nominee in the race, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.

A political adviser to Moore’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

“Dems across the state will be united to beat a Republican rubber stamp, the Old Governor, Larry Hogan,” Moore recently posted on social media.

The competitive Senate race could tip control of the chamber to Republicans with a Hogan victory as Democrats seek to paint the Republican as a MAGA stooge who will provide the GOP with the power to pass extreme policies. He revealed last week that he would support codifying abortion rights into federal law, a move seemingly aimed at blunting Democratic accusations that a Hogan win could lead to federal abortion restrictions.

Democrats still hold the upper hand in the Old Line State’s Senate race, but Hogan’s popularity has made it one of the most closely watched contests in the country.
