Schwartz emphasized Haley’s ⁣consistent criticisms of President Biden during her rallies, making Trump’s endorsement unsurprising.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s endorsement of former President Donald Trump has made the work of the Haley Voters for Biden PAC “difficult,” according to a senior PAC adviser.

Robert Schwartz, executive director of the Haley Voters Working Group, told Newsweek that it makes their efforts to get President Joe Biden elected more “difficult” but noted it was something they “fully expected.”

“We respectfully disagree with it, but we understand for her career and for her future in the Republican Party, that this was always the most likely outcome,” Schwartz said.

Schwartz explained that the Trump endorsement did not come as a surprise because at Haley’s rallies, “she always spoke very critically of President Biden” compared to her “more measured critiques of Trump.”

The Biden campaign released a press release on Thursday rolling out the red carpet for Haley voters to join his camp. They said “there’s a home” for anti-Trump Republican voters on Biden’s campaign and that they’re “putting in the work” to reach out to Haley’s supporters.

They quoted a statement from Schwartz in which he said, “While Trump has done absolutely nothing to gain the support of Haley voters and takes them for granted, Biden and his campaign are actively reaching out to build a coalition of Republicans and they know they need to earn their vote.”

Despite dropping out of the 2024 Republican primary race, Haley has continued to make waves at the ballot box. She collected nearly 22% of the vote in Indiana’s GOP primary, 20% in deep-blue Maryland, 18% in Nebraska, and 9% in West Virginia over the last few weeks.

A March poll took a deeper look at where Haley voters stand on policy and found that her supporters side with Biden over Trump on a wide variety of issues; however, just 20% of non-Democratic Haley voters it surveyed were registered Republicans.

Haley was the final holdout of Trump’s 2024 primary rivals, and Schwartz noted that her endorsement was “incredibly tepid” as the former governor mentioned that “Trump has not been perfect” in her speech explaining why she “will be voting for” the former president.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Haley for comment.
