NEW YORK — Former President Donald Trump revealed during a rally in the Bronx on Thursday that one of his conditions for debating President Joe Biden next month will be that they stand up.
Trump told a crowd of several thousand supporters at the event that he was asked to agree to a seated format for the CNN debate, scheduled for June 27.
“Today they said, ‘We’d like to set up tables so you sit down.’ I said, ‘I don’t want to sit down for a debate. Let’s go,’” Trump said. “So we’re not sitting down. We’re gonna be standing up for the debate.”
Trump’s remark comes after the presumptive Republican nominee said one day prior during a radio interview that he expected the pair to be sitting for the debate despite his desire to stand.
Trump repeatedly chided Biden during the rally for the president’s perceived mental and physical inferiority, claiming Biden cannot speak without a teleprompter and is threatened by stairs at events.

“If crooked Joe Biden makes it through the debate, which I think he will, [the media are] going to say it was one of the great debate performances in history,” Trump said.
The Biden campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
