Fauci attributes death threats to MTG’s ‘unusual behavior
Dr. Anthony Fauci accused Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of instigating death threats against him after her confrontational remarks during a recent congressional hearing. He denied GOP claims of concealing COVID-19 origins information or being aware of his former advisor’s actions. Fauci also clarified the source of the 6-feet social distancing guideline during the pandemic, attributing it to the CDC.
Dr. Anthony Fauci accused Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) of driving death threats against him following her hostile remarks at Monday’s congressional hearing.
At the hearing, Fauci denied accusations from Republican lawmakers that he had concealed information about the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic or had knowledge of his former senior adviser’s use of his personal email for official business. He also said that the 6-feet social distancing guideline during the pandemic came from the CDC after his earlier comment that the guideline had “sort of just appeared.”
“Whenever somebody gets up, whether it’s a news media — you know Fox News does it a lot — or it’s somebody in the Congress who gets up and makes a public statement that I’m responsible for the deaths of X number of people because of policies or some crazy idea that I created the virus, immediately it’s like clockwork, the death threats go way up,” Fauci told CNN.
“When you have performances like that unusual performance by Marjorie Taylor Greene in today’s hearing, those are the kind of things that drive up the death threats because there are a segment of the population out there that believe that kind of nonsense,” he continued.
Greene repeatedly refused to refer to Fauci as “doctor” at the hearing, saying that his medical license should be revoked and that he belonged in prison for his pandemic-era recommendations on masking, lockdowns, and COVID-19 vaccines.
“You know what this committee should be doing? We should be recommending you to be prosecuted. We should be writing a criminal referral because you should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity,” Greene said.
Fauci described at the hearing the ongoing harassment, including “credible death threats,” that he and his family have received. “‘Credible death threats’ means someone who clearly was on their way to kill me,” he said. “It’s required my having protective services essentially all the time.”

Greene clapped back in a post on X.
“No one should get death threats and I get them ALL THE TIME. But lucky for Mr. Fauci, he has Secret Service protection at the tax payers expense,” she posted. “It’s not my comments that have people furious at Mr. Fauci, it’s the FACT that his ridiculous, non-scientific, tyrannical policies DESTROYED people’s lives.”
