Biden Team’s Failed Attempt to Criticize Fox News Backfires
President Joe Biden’s campaign team tried to fact-check Fox News host John Roberts but faced criticism. Roberts mentioned Trump capping insulin costs for seniors, supported by archives. @BidenHQ countered, accusing Fox of spreading lies. Critics denounced @BidenHQ for misinformation. Savannah Lynn presented evidence that Trump reduced insulin costs before Biden froze the policy upon taking office and later reintroduced it as his own.
President Joe Biden’s campaign surrogates attempted to fact-check — and dunk on — Fox News host John Roberts, but critics quickly pointed out that their attack had landed wide of the mark.
The exchange began with Roberts, who said to cohost Sandra Smith during their show “America Reports” that he remembered President Donald Trump capping insulin costs for Medicare seniors at $35 monthly. Roberts’ statement is backed up by the Trump White House archives from May 26, 2020, eight months prior to Biden’s inauguration.
The president’s campaign account, @BidenHQ — where the bio reads “Just the facts, Jack” — offered an alternative history with alternative facts to go with it.
“Fox host tries to claim Trump, not President Biden, capped insulin at $35/month FACT CHECK: This is a blatant lie. Trump did not cap insulin costs, President Biden did for seniors through the Inflation Reduction Act. Trump’s Project 2025 wants to repeal it, which would raise insulin costs for over a million Americans,” the account posted.

“FACT CHECK The internet is forever. Unlike you I have receipts,” Savannah Lynn posted, sharing articles showing that Trump had, in fact, reduced insulin costs to cap copays at $35 per month for seniors. She also showed that Biden, upon taking office, had actually frozen Trump’s insulin price-reduction while he was systematically reversing all of the Trump policies he could — and had then reintroduced the price cap as though it was his own idea.

“There are receipts to dispute the Biden campaign’s claim about what I said,” Roberts responded later.
“As it turns out, the Biden campaign — not Roberts — is guilty of spreading falsehoods.
