Ared Whitmer announces new COVID-19 restrictions
Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan has announced new COVID-19 restrictions in response to the surge in cases in the state. The restrictions include closing indoor dining at restaurants, suspending in-person learning at high schools and colleges, and temporarily halting in-person work for certain businesses. Capacity limits have also been reduced for retail stores, movie theaters, and gyms. These measures will take effect on November 18 and last for three weeks. Governor Whitmer emphasized the severity of the situation and urged everyone to do their part in stopping the spread of the virus. The new restrictions have faced pushback from some business owners and officials, but Governor Whitmer has stated that they are necessary to save lives and protect frontline workers.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) said that she lost connection during a remote interview over the weekend when asked about the criminal trial against President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
Whitmer was asked about the case by Dana Bash during CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday as the trial enters its second week in a Delaware federal court.
Hunter Biden is accused by federal prosecutors of committing three felonies related to his purchase of a firearm in 2018, including lying on the background check and being in possession of the firearm.
The charges stem from him not being allowed to own a firearm because of his addiction to crack cocaine, something that he has been very public about.
When Whitmer was asked about the charges, she responded: “Dana, are you there?”
CNN had to end the segment because Whitmer claimed that she could not hear Bash.
However, at the end of the show, Whitmer rejoined and was again asked about the charges to which she responded: “You know, I don’t know how to weigh in on that, Dana.”
During the initial portion of her interview she had plenty to say about former President Donald Trump and the controversial trial and verdict — which many experts say is likely to be overturned on appeal — in Manhattan.
“Under this democracy, no one’s above the law. Everyone is held into account,” Whitmer said about Trump. “And this former president is now a convicted felon.”
She claimed that he “flouts the law and cheats and just got caught.”
