Charlamagne tha God criticizes Democrats for lacking authenticity, urging them to speak more like everyday people

Radio host Charlamagne tha God has criticized Democratic‍ lawmakers for their lackluster approach in motivating supporters with their usual political ⁢rhetoric.⁣ On Comedy Central’s “The Daily⁢ Show,”⁢ he emphasized that modern audiences no longer respond to the⁣ “normal, political voice” and suggested that Democrats need to communicate in a more relatable and straightforward manner. ‍Specifically,⁤ he discussed how the Democrats could strengthen their messaging on abortion access, pointing out that their current speeches lack urgency and fail to convey the gravity of the issue. Charlamagne highlighted that instead of lengthy, subdued talks, Democrats should assertively address the threats posed by ⁢opposition, ⁢exemplifying how ‌Republicans discuss their viewpoints with more straightforward aggression. His critique reflects a broader concern about the Democratic Party’s communication strategy as the 2024⁢ elections approach.

Radio host Charlamagne tha God criticized how Democratic lawmakers motivate their supporters in speeches, arguing that no one wants to hear “the normal, political voice anymore.”

The Breakfast Club host, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, discussed how messaging is the biggest problem the Democratic Party faces ahead of the 2024 elections. To prove his point, he said that talking about abortion access ought to be a winning strategy for the party but that Democrats are not showing how serious they are about it during speeches, showing clips of President Joe Biden and other Democrats talking slowly and calmly about the importance of birth control.

“Bro! Why is this sentence taking you 49 years to say?!” Charlamagne said on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. “How about try this instead? ‘These religious nut-a** Republicans want to force you to have a baby!’ Period! The end! But I know, I know, politicians aren’t supposed to talk that way, but they should! In fact, before Democrats even worry about explaining their side of an issue, they need to learn something more basic: how to talk like real people.”

Charlamagne then showed clips of Republican lawmakers discussing their viewpoints, including Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) saying “the Biden administration sucks” and former President Donald Trump using the term “radical-left Democrats.” The radio host also showed a clip of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) swearing at a reporter when venting her frustrations about the Black Lives Matter riots in the summer of 2020, joking that Congress could “pay off the whole deficit” by giving the congresswoman a swearing jar.

“And yes, I know Marjorie Taylor Greene is a Whole Fools Market, but that’s authentic!” Charlamagne said. “OK, that’s real America. That’s what a Waffle House sounds like at 3 a.m., OK? That’s making a scene at Ann Taylor Loft because you can’t make a return without your receipt!”

Last month, Charlamagne appeared on The View to discuss the 2024 elections, which will likely be a rematch between Trump and Biden. During this appearance, Charlamagne rejected pressure from the hosts to endorse Biden, arguing “both candidates are trash” but clarifying he plans to vote for the candidate he thinks “can preserve democracy.”

When asked who he thinks will win the election, he said the victor will probably be whoever “energizes their base the best at this point.”
