Trump pledges to sign an executive order on his first day to slash funding for schools promoting Critical Race Theory and transgender policies
Former President Donald Trump, during a speech in Racine, Wisconsin, pledged to take punitive actions against schools that teach Critical Race Theory (CRT) and propagate what he termed “transgender insanity” if he is re-elected. Speaking to his supporters ahead of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Trump criticized what he considers inappropriate educational content involving race and gender theories. He promised to sign an executive order on his first day back in office to cut federal funding for any schools that push these theories. His declarations were met with applause from the audience.
Former President Donald Trump promised on Tuesday to take immediate action to punish schools that teach Critical Race Theory (CRT) and push “transgender insanity” if he wins a second term in the White House.
Trump spoke to a crowd of supporters in Racine, Wisconsin, less than a month before he is set to be nominated at the Republican National Convention in nearby Milwaukee. During his speech in Racine, Trump blasted “inappropriate” content being taught to children and promised to pull funding from schools that promote leftist racial and gender theories.
“On day one, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding of any school pushing Critical Race Theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political onto the lives of our children,” the former president said to the applause of the crowd.

“And I will not give one penny to a school that has a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate,” Trump added. “And I will keep … some of these things [are] embarrassing to say … I will keep men out of women’s sports. Why would you have to say that? You go back 10-15 years, and somebody would say, ‘What’s that all about?’”
Trump’s promise to cut federal funding from schools promoting CRT and “inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content” echoes statements he made early in his 2024 presidential campaign. Speaking to a crowd in Iowa in March of 2023, Trump said he would push back against CRT and LGBT policies being forced on children, adding that he would “break up” the Department of Education and push for universal school choice.
“This is what must be done to save our country from destruction,” Trump said.
Last month, Trump also slammed President Joe Biden’s Title IX changes that add students’ sexual orientation and gender identity as categories protected against discrimination.

“We’re gonna end it on day one,” Trump said of Biden’s Title IX revisions. “Don’t forget, that was done as an order from the president. That came down as an executive order. And we’re gonna change it — on day one it’s gonna be changed.”
