Challenger Mocks Lauren Boebert with Note from Theater Seat

A Democratic candidate from Colorado,⁣ John Padora, who is contending for the same congressional seat as‍ Republican Representative Lauren Boebert, has released a campaign video where ⁤he humorously references an incident involving Boebert. In the video, ‌Padora is seen asking for donations while seated in the exact⁢ spot at a Denver theater from which ⁣Boebert was previously ejected. This ⁣ejection occurred during a showing of ‌the musical “Beetlejuice,” where Boebert and her date ‍garnered negative attention for being loud, vaping, and inappropriate⁤ behavior. The incident,⁤ which led Boebert to initially deny‌ and later admit to‍ vaping, resulted ‍in her losing endorsements from significant Colorado Republicans. Padora’s video uses this episode to criticize Boebert‌ and to ⁤appeal for campaign⁢ donations.

A Democratic candidate vying for the same open congressional seat in Colorado as Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) poked fun at her removal from a theater showing Beetlejuice in a campaign video.

John Padora, an addiction recovery advocate, filmed a video of himself asking for donations while sitting in the same seat at the Denver theater Boebert sat in during a showing of Beetlejuice last September before she and her date were ejected from the theater.

Boebert and her date made national headlines for being too noisy and vaping during a showing of the musical. The video also showed the pair groping each other, causing Boebert to lose endorsements from notable Colorado Republicans.

Boebert first denied vaping in the theater but later admitted to it and apologized after the video showed she indeed was.

“I’m sitting in the very same seat that Lauren Boebert got kicked out of, the same way she got kicked out of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District,” Padora said. “Now she’s picked up her bags and fled to eastern Colorado to run in the 4th Congressional District. That’s a race I’ve been running since May of 2023.”

Boebert has represented Colorado’s 3rd District since 2021 but switched to the 4th District in December to avoid a tough reelection campaign. Boebert narrowly beat Democrat challenger Adam Frisch, who is running again in the district this election cycle, by just 546 votes in 2022.

“Boebert is an opportunistic carpetbagger, and we deserve real leadership here in Colorado 4th,” Padora said. “Please, if you can chip in $5, $10 today to make sure that we have the resources we need to win this race.”

Polling shows Boebert leading Republican candidates. Her closest rival, Peter Yu, is 35 points behind her. Padora will face off against Trisha Calvarese and Ike McCorkle in the June 25 Democratic primary.
