Gas prices in the United States have been on the rise, with the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline reaching $3.494 on Wednesday, marking a 4 cent increase over the last two days. This increase represents the third consecutive day of rising prices, as recorded by AAA. On Tuesday, the price stood at $3.469, and on Monday, it was $3.448. Comparatively, a week ago, the price was $3.449, and a month ago, it was $3.593. A year ago, at this time, the average was slightly higher at $3.573 per gallon.
California reported the highest gas prices, at $4.811 per gallon, while Mississippi had the lowest, at $2.934 per gallon. Interestingly, the state with the highest prices saw a decrease from the previous day, whereas the state with the lowest prices experienced an increase.
The variability in gas prices continues to be significant across different states. For more detailed information, one can check state-specific gas prices at AAA’s website. In Washington, D.C., the average price was $3.666 per gallon on Wednesday, slightly up from the day before.
Gas prices increased again on Wednesday as the average price for a gallon of regular gas reached .494, jumping over 4 cents in the last two days.
It was the third straight day in which gas prices increased, according to AAA. On Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.469. On Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.448.

The state with the most expensive gas in the country on Wednesday was California. It cost $4.811 for a gallon of regular gas in the Golden State. On the opposite end of the gas price spectrum, Mississippi was the state with the cheapest gas prices with a gallon of regular gas costing $2.934 on Wednesday. Incidentally, the state with the cheapest gas prices increased from the previous day while the state with the most expensive gas prices decreased from the previous day.

In the nation’s capital, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.666 on Wednesday. This was a slight increase from Tuesday’s price of $3.661. A week ago, gas was $3.67 per gallon. A month ago, a gallon of regular gas was slightly more expensive than the prices this week, coming in at $3.707 per gallon.
Maryland
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Maryland on Wednesday was $3.507. This was slightly less expensive than Tuesday’s price of $3.513 per gallon and Monday’s price of $3.518. Both prices are less expensive than a week ago, when gas cost $3.551 per gallon. Gas prices are also cheaper now than what they were a month ago, when it cost $3.671 for a gallon of regular gas.
Virginia
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Wednesday was $3.33. This was a slight increase from Tuesday’s average price of $3.319 per gallon. Both prices are a slight decrease from a week ago when regular-grade gas was $3.343 per gallon in Virginia. Furthermore, these prices are also cheaper than from a month ago, when it cost $3.462 per gallon for regular gas.
Delaware
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Wednesday was $3.443. This was a slight drop from Tuesday’s price of $3.446 per gallon. A week ago, regular gas in the First State was $3.481 per gallon. Gas prices were lower over the weekend in Delaware than compared to a month ago, when gas cost $3.531 per gallon.
Pennsylvania
In Pennsylvania, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas was $3.637 on Wednesday. This was a slight increase from a day earlier when the average price of $3.628 per gallon. It is also the exact price it was a week ago. A month ago people in Pennsylvania had to pay $3.771 per gallon for regular gas.
New Jersey
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Wednesday was $3.368. This was the same price it was on Tuesday. Gas prices in the Garden State are cheaper than from a week ago when the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.377.
