She shared ⁣this sentiment in an interview with a British outlet, stating‍ that she is willing to serve ⁤in any capacity to support her ex-husband. Maples also discussed forgiveness towards Trump for past events, her views on current issues such as COVID-19 vaccinations, and‍ her approach to staying positive through joy. Trump’s ex-wife Maples says she’s open to being vice president: ‘Whatever way that I can serve’

Former President Donald Trump’s second ex-wife, Marla Maples, is open to taking a more active role in her former husband’s third recent bid for president.

She is even willing to take Trump’s vice presidential nomination if offered, she revealed in an interview with the Standard, a British outlet. Trump was married to Maples from 1993 to 1999.

“Someone would have to ask my ex-husband about that,” she laughed in response to a question about Trump’s running mate. “I’m open. I’m open to whatever way that I can serve. Right now everyone [in the Trump family] is just seeing how we can help.”

Maples chose not to participate in Trump’s previous campaigns, though said she gave Tiffany Trump, the couple’s only child, strength in her 2016 role when her father was running for president.

Maples came to fame as Trump was divorcing his first wife, Ivana Trump, because of his affair with her. Since Maples’s divorce, she has reconciled with the former president and appeared at her daughter’s wedding with him and Melania Trump, his third wife.

“Anything from the past I’ve forgiven,” Maples said. “That is a conversation that Donald and I have had: forgiving each other. Marriages are challenging, especially when you play them out in the media.”

The wide-ranging interview also covered Trump’s trial and the E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse judgment. Maples said she doesn’t believe Carroll because Trump has “always had women throw themselves on him instead.” As for his Manhattan trial, Maples laughed.

“They love these little sexy stories,” she said. “We have a country that is failing. Our cities are not protected. How do we make people feel safe again? That’s more important than having these lawsuits that are not affecting any of us today.”

She also said she gets her news from “conversations” and didn’t support mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations, instead saying people should surround themselves with “joyful people” as a remedy for the virus.

“Joy keeps you alive and happy for a long time,” she said.

Trump’s family is known for not taking an active role in his campaigns, but Maples had not been known to get involved until her recent attempt. His son, Barron, even made a rare appearance at a campaign rally Tuesday.

If Maples is truly throwing her hat in the ring for vice president, she would join Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL), J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) among others vying for the position. She has no known political experience.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Trump campaign and Maples’s representatives but did not receive a response. Trump is leading Biden 42.2% to 40.1% in FiveThirtyEight’s running national polling average as of Wednesday.

The Standard summed up the interview, writing that Maples “might have left the surname behind in the Nineties, but cut Marla Maples and her blood still runs Trump.”
