Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has accepted an offer to speak at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin this week as the GOP gathers to support their presumptive presidential nominee after narrowly escaping assassination, the Washington Examiner has confirmed.
Haley released her 97 delegates to former President Donald Trump last week. Her willingness to offer public support for her one-time rival comes after Trump survived an attempted assassination on Saturday.
Both Republicans and Democrats have condemned the political violence. Haley and Trump had a bitter rivalry during the former ambassador’s brief run for the presidency. Haley’s decision to address the convention, gathered in Milwaukee, comes after it was previously reported that Haley was not invited to the event, and did not plan to speak during it.
Trump posted on social media that he “was going to delay my trip” following the shooting but ultimately determined he “cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else. He departed for the RNC as regularly scheduled on Sunday.

Haley is expected to speak on Tuesday. It’s unclear whether the assassination played a role in Haley’s reversal from previously stating she would not attend.
“This should horrify every freedom loving American,” Haley said Saturday of the shooting. “Violence against presidential candidates must never be normalized. We are lifting up Donald Trump, the entire Trump family, and all in attendance in prayer.”
