FACT CHECK: Did Donald Trump doze off during the RNC?
The post shared on social media claiming that former President Donald Trump fell asleep during the first day of the Republican National Convention is false. Trump closed his eyes during a prayer, like many other attendees, and did not fall asleep. The Republican National Convention featured several politicians Trump was once at odds with speaking on the second day. This false claim is just another example of misinformation being spread on social media. It is important to fact-check information before sharing it to ensure accuracy and prevent the spread of false information.

Trump closed his eyes during a prayer, many other attendees also closed their eyes.
Fact Check:
The Republican National Convention saw several politicians Trump was once at odds with speak on the second day of the convention, CNN reported. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley all shared support for Trump as tensions rise in the Democratic party.
A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, allegedly shows a video of Trump sleeping in his seat during the convention. The video shows a broadcast featuring Trump in which he appears very still with his eyes closed.
“Trump fell asleep at the RNC,” the caption reads. “On the first night. He just got there.”
The claim is inaccurate. The video is from the first day of the RNC in Milwaukee and shows Trump during a prayer from Pastor James Roemke.
The full context of the video shows that Trump had his eyes closed during a prayer and that many in attendance also closed their eyes. The Daily Loud posted a video on social media that also confirms Trump had his eyes closed during a prayer. Newly nominated Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance can also been seen with his eyes closed in the video.(RELATED: Viral Photo Of ‘Mark Violets’ Is Not Trump Rally Shooter)
