Ex-ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann claims Trump was not ‘hit by a bullet’ at shooting

Former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann claimed on X that former President Donald Trump was not “hit by a bullet” at his Pennsylvania rally.

Olbermann, a major critic of the former president, made the statement shortly after Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who is also a medical doctor, released a statement clarifying that Trump is “doing well” amid his daily treatment of his wound. Jackson added that the bullet that grazed Trump’s ear came “less than a quarter of an inch from entering his head,” and that the shot produced a “2-cm wide wound” in his upper ear.

“In brief: Ronny Jackson isn’t a doctor,” Olbermann wrote on X on Saturday. “Which is perfect, because Trump wasn’t hit by a bullet.”

Olbermann has since reiterated his belief, writing in another statement that “there remains no evidence” Trump had been hit by a bullet.

Jackson appeared on television on Sunday to discuss the shooting and his continual checkups on Trump, during which he said it was “absolutely insane” how some claim that Trump had been hit with glass and not a bullet. The lawmaker noted that the teleprompters at the event were “intact.” Jackson questioned where glass could have possibly come from.

“A man died at this event, and other people were critically injured,” Jackson said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “This was a serious, serious assassination attempt, President Trump was almost killed. It needs to be considered a serious incident, we need to figure out what happened.”

Trump became the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nominee this past week, during which he gave his speech at the Republican National Convention. Trump stated he “had God on my side” during the shooting, and stated that he is running for president “for all of America.”

Shortly after being shot at his Pennsylvania rally, Trump got up and raised his fist to the crowd, with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg calling it “one of the most bada** things I’ve ever seen in my life.” However, he opted not to endorse either Trump or President Joe Biden.
