Elon Musk promotes ‘unscripted’ live interview with Trump on X

Billionaire and X owner Elon Musk has promoted the return of former President Donald Trump to the platform scheduled for Monday night, when the 2024 Republican presidential nominee will partake in an “unscripted” interview.

The conversation between the two billionaires will be hosted on Musk’s social media platform and is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Trump has also promoted the interview on X, with his last post on the platform made on Aug. 24, 2023, when he showcased his mugshot.

“This is unscripted with no limits on subject matter, so should be highly entertaining!” Musk wrote on X. “If you have specific questions & comments, post them under the chat.”

Subjects that could be discussed include the recent hack on the Trump campaign, which leaked a 271-page vetting document about Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH). The former president has blamed the Iranian government for the hack and said the hackers were “only able to get publicly available information.”

Trump’s return to X comes as he has made several moves to reach the younger voting demographic, including an interview with boxer and social media influencer Logan Paul in June. Shortly before that interview, the former president joined the viral social media platform TikTok, on which he has amassed almost 10 million followers.

In July, Musk endorsed Trump‘s 2024 presidential bid right after the former president survived an assassination attempt. Musk has had a rocky relationship with Trump in the past but has soured on the Democratic Party and its leadership over the years.

Monday night’s interview will not be Musk’s first time conducting an interview on X with a politician — he did one with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in May 2023 when the governor launched his 2024 presidential campaign.
