Wesley Hunt warns voters to view Harris-Walz ticket as ‘radicals’ – Washington Examiner

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) warned voters to view the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as a representation of radicalism, citing their leadership during the “defund‌ the police” movement that gained traction ⁢after George Floyd’s death in 2020. In an appearance on ‌Fox News, Hunt ‍argued that the unrest and lawlessness seen⁤ in ⁣cities like California and Minnesota during⁢ that time could spread nationwide if Harris were elected. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections, ⁣urging Americans‌ to unite against what he perceives as a radical left agenda that seeks to divide the nation. ⁤Hunt also criticized⁢ Harris for her prior⁢ support of a bail fund that helped defendants during the riots.

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) said voting for Vice President Kamala Harris would bring the “lawlessness” seen in California to every city and town in the nation.

Hunt cited the “defund the police” movement during the summer of 2020, which gained momentum shortly after the death of George Floyd. The Texas congressman referenced how Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), were in leadership positions during the “summer of love,” and he argued the riots and looting seen in California and Minnesota during this time frame are at the top of the 2024 Democratic ticket.

“We, as a party, and we, as a country, have got to recognize these radicals for who they are and why they are trying to divide us in the future,” Hunt said on Fox News’s Hannity. “That’s why this November is so important. Because we have got to come together and stop the radical Left from destroying the very fabric and the very soul of this country.”

In 2020, then-Sen. Kamala Harris authored a blog post urging the public to help demonstrators “on the front lines” by donating to a bail fund that freed criminals. The post was uploaded to Harris’s Medium profile on May 31, 2020, during the riots in Minneapolis and other major cities that occurred after Floyd’s death.

“They are trying to constantly race-bait us and divide this country based on the way that we look,” Hunt said. “I’m here to tell you down here in Houston, Texas, we have black police officers, we have white police officers, we have Hispanic police officers, we have Asian police officers, and they get up every single day and serve together.”

Harris stepped in for President Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s 2024 nominee after he suspended his campaign. In the weeks following, she has received a boost in polling and fundraising.

Hunt stated that her newfound support “has to change” ahead of “the most consequential election” in his lifetime.

Recent polling data indicate Harris is leading former President Donald Trump in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, all three of which are battleground states Biden won in 2020. The poll began gathering data on Aug. 6, the same day Walz was selected as Harris’s running mate.
