DNC lights ‘Project 2025 HQ’ on Trump Tower despite former president’s dismissal – Washington Examiner
Country forward. In contrast, Project 2025 represents an extreme agenda that would take us backward,” the DNC explained in their statement.
The projection on Trump Tower aims to highlight this contrast as the Democrats seek to solidify their messaging during the national convention. The DNC has emphasized that while Trump attempts to connect with voters in battleground states, they are focusing on forging a narrative surrounding their own achievements and vision for the future, steering clear of the policies advocated by Trump and his allies.
This tactic is part of a broader strategy as the political landscape heats up ahead of the 2024 elections, where both parties are jockeying for position and attempting to distinguish their platforms to voters. The DNC’s actions reflect their commitment to engaging in a robust campaign against Trump, particularly in the wake of criticisms regarding conservative initiatives and policies linked to Project 2025.
As the campaign season progresses, it remains to be seen how effective such messaging strategies will be in reshaping public perception and influencing voter decisions.
DNC lights ‘Project 2025 HQ’ on Trump Tower despite former president’s dismissal
The Democratic National Committee took credit for projecting the words “Project 2025 HQ” onto Trump Tower in Chicago, where the Democratic Party’s national convention is being held this week.
The DNC’s projection marks the latest move by Democrats to tie former President Donald Trump to Project 2025 despite him being adamant he has no connection to it. Project 2025 itself consists of multiple policy proposals organized by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups.
“While Comrade Kamala and the Democrats continue to lie about President Trump and spend thousands of dollars to secure their convention from protestors rather than secure our border, President Trump is traveling to battleground states to prosecute the case against weak, failed, and dangerously liberal Kamala Harris,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement shared with the Washington Examiner.
The DNC stated in a press release that the projection is intended to showcase the differences between their 2024 ticket, featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), and the Republican ticket, featuring Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).
“Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz have proven records of delivering for working families, and now, they’re running to lead our country into a brighter future,” a statement from the DNC read. “Donald Trump and JD Vance are running on their backwards Project 2025 agenda, which would undermine working families and take away their freedoms.”
While Trump has been clear that he has no connection to Project 2025, he has also promoted Agenda 47, which consists of 20 campaign promises to U.S. voters that include securing the southern border, ending inflation, preventing World War III, and protecting women’s sports.
In late July, Project 2025’s director, Paul Dans, stepped down from his position at the Heritage Foundation. The Trump campaign issued a statement that it had been “very clear” it was uninvolved with Project 2025 and that reports of its demise “would be greatly welcomed.”
The Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago on Monday night, with President Joe Biden headlining the opening night’s speakers.
