Biden family ‘finally’ to be held accountable for foreign dealings: James Comer – Washington Examiner
James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, announced that the Biden family will allegedly face accountability for their foreign business dealings. This statement follows the release of a Republican impeachment report claiming that President Biden created over a dozen shell companies to launder money from U.S. adversaries, benefiting ten family members. The report also alleges that the Biden family has not paid taxes on this income, thereby committing tax evasion and fraud. Comer emphasized the seriousness of these claims in an interview, stating the findings suggest violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act and that the family profited from access to Biden while he was vice president. He argued for the importance of public awareness regarding these issues, regardless of Biden’s decision not to seek reelection, and expressed a commitment to pass legislation against influence-peddling. The committees involved have not yet recommended impeachment but are continuing investigations.
Biden family ‘finally’ to be held accountable for foreign dealings: James Comer
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said Tuesday that the Biden family will “finally” be held accountable for their foreign business dealings
House Republicans unveiled their impeachment report against President Joe Biden on Monday, in which Comer said they discovered that Biden created over a dozen shell companies to launder money from adversaries of the United States to 10 members of the Biden family. House Republicans have also been told by whistleblowers from the IRS that the Biden family has not paid any taxes on this money.
“And I think what you’re going to see with our report, it outlines that the Bidens have violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act, the Bidens have committed tax evasion, tax fraud, and I think that you’re going to see steps taken now to finally hold this family accountable,” Comer said on Fox Business’s Varney & Co. “At the very least, the American people, Stuart, know that the Bidens have been selling access to their father while he was vice president of the United States, and this is something I don’t think any American would approve of.”
Host Stuart Varney pressed Comer on what the purpose of continuing the impeachment against Biden is since the president announced last month he will not be seeking reelection. The Kentucky lawmaker contended that it is “important” for the public to know the truth, stressing the need for history to recognize Biden as “the most corrupt president in the history of America.”
“What my goal is in the remaining month of Congress, Stuart, is to pass legislation to ban influence-peddling in the future,” he said. “We see where the Menendezes always get caught, we see where the Jeffersons get caught, but what we’ve not seen is any type of accountability for this family — and not only this family, Stuart, but also the government officials and what I call ‘the deep-state agencies’ who have been involved in the cover-up.”
In unveiling the impeachment report, the House Oversight, Ways and Means, and Judiciary committees stopped short of recommending the impeachment vote move forward in the House, in which Republicans have a slim majority. The committees have also said their impeachment inquiry would continue and that the decision to move forward with a vote “must not be made lightly.”
House Republicans have also begun opening investigations into Vice President Kamala Harris, who is taking up Biden’s place as the Democratic Party’s 2024 candidate, and her newly announced running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN).
Sharon Yang, the White House spokeswoman for oversight investigations, has said that House Republicans have given up on “their wild goose chase.” She has encouraged Republicans to move on from their impeachment effort and “focus on the real issues.”
