Trump would be ‘honored’ by RFK Jr. endorsement – Washington Examiner
Former President Donald Trump expressed that he would be “honored” to receive an endorsement from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is speculated to be considering stepping back from his independent presidential campaign to support Trump. Reports indicate that Kennedy might make an announcement regarding his campaign’s future on Friday in Phoenix, coinciding with a Trump rally in the same city. Trump, during an appearance on Fox News, praised Kennedy, describing him as a smart and good person whose ”heart is in the right place.” He also acknowledged Kennedy’s initial bid for the Democratic nomination, stating that he believed Kennedy could have defeated President Joe Biden. The potential endorsement, while discussed in the media, remains uncertain as the situation unfolds.
Trump would be ‘honored’ by RFK Jr. endorsement
Former President Donald Trump “would be honored” if Robert F. Kennedy Jr., were to endorse him, as reports have speculated the independent presidential candidate is contemplating doing so.
Reports began to leak Wednesday that Kennedy may be dropping out Friday and throwing in his lot with Trump, though the endorsement is less certain than the reports that he will drop out. Kennedy is scheduled to speak about the future of his campaign Friday in Phoenix, the same day Trump will hold a rally in Arizona.
Trump said Kennedy’s “heart is in the right place” and that he would be honored to have his endorsement while speaking on Fox News’s Fox and Friends on Thursday.
“So I’ve known him for a long time,” Trump said. “He’s a, as you know, he’s a little different kind of a guy, very smart guy, a very good person. If he endorsed me, I would be honored by it. I would be very honored by it. He really has his heart in the right place. He is a respected person.”
Trump also noted how Kennedy started the 2024 campaign by seeking the Democratic nomination and said he believes Kennedy would have defeated President Joe Biden if he had faced him in the primary.
“They treated him very badly,” Trump said. “I think he would have you know, he goes around saying he would have beaten Biden in the primary. I think there was a good chance. What they did to him was what they did to Biden. They really were harsh and threw him out. They wouldn’t let him go to the vote. They made it impossible for him to compete in primaries because he was doing so well.
“I think he would have overthrown Biden because Biden is so bad as a president,” he added.
As Kennedy decides whether or not to endorse Trump, three Trump allies, including Donald Trump Jr., and Tucker Carlson, are among those attempting to negotiate an endorsement, according to NBC News.
The former president recently said he would be open to Kennedy serving in a possible second Trump administration.
