Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is delivering an address regarding the future of his campaign amid rumors he will drop out and throw his weight behind former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy is scheduled to speak at 2:30 p.m. Eastern time at an undisclosed location in Phoenix, Arizona. Trump is scheduled to speak later on Friday in Glendale, Arizona. The third-party presidential candidate withdrew his name from the Arizona ballot on Thursday.
Kennedy, already failing to reach double digits, took another major polling hit after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July. Amid his fledgling numbers, running mate Nicole Shanahan began openly flirting with the prospect of dropping out and joining forces with former President Donald Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris.
In an interview with CNN’s Kristen Holmes on Tuesday, Trump welcomed the news that Kennedy might join forces with him, praising the candidate as “a very smart guy.”
