Workers on Labor Day say inflation ‘erasing’ American dream, snuffing out hard work
People are depressed about the economy going into Labor Day and the final election push, believing that inflation under the Biden-Harris administration has erased their dreams.
In a couple of new surveys, respondents said that the dream of buying a house has been snuffed out by rising prices and that most of their daily hard work has been eaten away by inflation.
A WalletHub survey provided to Secrets on Wednesday said, “74% of people think inflation is erasing their hard work.”
While most believe that they are doing better than Labor Day 2023, they apparently also feel that they are moving backward and working harder.
Consider that two of three said that inflation is impacting their Labor Day plans, and 93% believe they need a raise to tread water.
The poll highlighted the key issue in the upcoming election, one that former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are fighting over.

That survey was bolstered by another from the Wall Street Journal and NORC that said just 10% believe that buying a house, the key to the American dream, is attainable due to costs.
Cygnal pollster Brent Buchanan said in an email, “Americans feel the squeeze big time from inflation on not just on housing but energy, food, and insurance. Most are hurting and don’t see a way out. This is the bedrock theme of the 2024 election. If Trump can keep the heat on Harris and connect the Biden-Harris performance of the last 3.5 years, he can maintain an edge with swing voters.”
