A Wells Fargo employee named Denise Prudhomme, aged 60, was found dead at her desk in the bank’s corporate office in Tempe, Arizona. She had been undiscovered for four days, having last scanned into the building on August 16 and was found on August 20. This tragic incident has led to an outpouring of sympathy from the company, with a spokesperson expressing their sadness and offering support to employees through counseling services. The investigation is being handled by the Tempe Police Department, following reports from coworkers who had noticed a foul smell in the office after returning from the weekend.

A worker at an Arizona Wells Fargo died at her desk and wasn’t discovered until four days later, Arizona authorities said.
Denise Prudhomme, 60, was found slumped over in her cubicle at the bank’s corporate office in Tempe. Prudhomme scanned into the building with her ID on Aug. 16 and was found on Aug. 20.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague at our Tempe office,” a Wells Fargo spokesperson told 12News. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and loved ones during this difficult time. Counselors, through our Employee Assistance Consulting service, are available to support our employees. We are fully cooperating with the Tempe Police Department in their investigation and will direct all further questions to them.”
An employee said workers had been complaining about a foul smell in the office upon returning to work after the weekend, but it was blamed on bad plumbing. Most employees at the office work remotely, but the building has 24/7 security.
“To hear she’s been sitting at the desk like that would make me feel sick,” an employee at Wells Fargo told K12News, an NBC affiliate. “And nobody did anything. That’s how she spent her last moments.”
Police said a preliminary investigation showed no foul play involved in her death, but an inquiry is still ongoing.
Workers were frustrated that it took so long for her to be found.
“It’s negligence in some part,” a worker said.
“I just feel like they aren’t being transparent with us, and somebody needs to acknowledge this,” the worker said. “To the family, I’m sorry for their loss. I feel it because I’m thinking about my mom and my mother-in-law, and what if that happened to them.”
