Trump team compares ex-president to Muhammad Ali on debate eve – Washington Examiner
Former President Donald Trump’s team has expressed confidence ahead of his upcoming debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, comparing the challenge of preparing for Trump to that of boxing legends such as Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather. Trump senior adviser Jason Miller stated that it’s impossible to adequately prepare for Trump due to his unpredictable debating style, emphasizing a blend of humor, charm, and impactful facts. While Harris is reportedly training with strategists from the Obama campaign in Pittsburgh, Trump’s camp believes these efforts will be in vain. Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz commented on Harris’s likely strategy, suggesting she will aim to distinguish herself from President Joe Biden, but he views this as an unattainable goal given her established political history.
Trump team says preparing to debate him is like going up against Muhammad Ali
Former President Donald Trump‘s team says Vice President Kamala Harris can try to prepare to debate him but she won’t succeed.
“You can’t prepare for President Trump. There’s just no way to do it,” Trump senior adviser Jason Miller said on a call previewing the showdown. “Imagine a boxer trying to prepare for Floyd Mayweather or Muhammad Ali. You just don’t know what angle they’re going to come at you with.”
Harris has been in Pittsburgh since late last week preparing for the debate, which will be held across the state in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Miller said Harris is working with “Obama campaign team advisers” but that it will be to no avail.

“You don’t know what style of contrast that [Trump is] going to deliver,” he said. “There’s an amazing mix of humor and charm, as well as very hard-hitting facts.”
Trump’s team is not downplaying expectations as he prepares to take on Harris. His last debate, against President Joe Biden, led to Biden exiting the race.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who was also on the call, said he thinks Harris’s top goal will be “to separate herself from Joe Biden,” another goal the Trump team deems impossible.
“Kamala is not some new arrival in American politics,” Gaetz said. “She has a record as a district attorney, and as attorney general, that record is incredibly liberal — and President Trump is going to tie her to that record during the debate.”
Harris’s team wants to cast her as an agent of change, contrasting her relative youth and the fact that she’d be the first female president against sending Trump in for a second term. One of her campaign mantras is: “We are not going back.”
She is in a “debate camp” at a Pittsburgh hotel and is working with Philippe Reines, who also helped Hillary Clinton prepare for debates against Trump in 2016. Reines said he is advising Harris to “expect the unexpected.”
Trump’s team says he is a better debater who also has an advantage when it comes to policy.
“The bottom line is that Kamala Harris is unfit to be our president and commander in chief,” former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said. “President Trump has a record. Kamala Harris has a record. This contract and comparison will be on full display.”
