Byron Donalds says Harris cannot change the ‘reality’ voters face – Washington Examiner
In a recent statement, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming that she cannot change the challenging realities voters face regarding issues like the economy and border security. He accused the media of treating her as a “Hollywood starlet” since she entered the 2024 presidential race, but maintained that such portrayals do not alter the fundamental problems created under her and President Joe Biden’s administration. Speaking on Fox News, Donalds argued that Harris’s performance in the upcoming debate would be critical, speculating that she has “no margin of error” and predicting that it could signal a downturn for her campaign. He urged former President Donald Trump to question Harris on her record and decisions made during her time in office, suggesting that the American public is dissatisfied with the current administration and is looking for Trump’s return to leadership.
Byron Donalds says Harris cannot change the ‘reality’ voters face
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) argued Vice President Kamala Harris is unable to change the “reality” voters have to deal with on a day-to-day basis, such as the economy and border security.
Donalds said that since Harris entered the 2024 presidential race in July, she has been treated as a “Hollywood starlet” by the legacy media. However, this portrayal by a majority of the press has not changed “the fundamentals,” the Florida congressman contended.
“And the reality remains that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, they wrecked the economy, they destroyed the border, and our foreign policy is a mess,” Donald said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. “People are looking at that. So what I think you’re going to see tomorrow night is a very calm and cool Donald Trump explaining very clearly to the American people the contrast between his administration and the Harris-Biden Administration.”
Donalds added that there is “no margin of error” for Harris in Tuesday’s debate and that the vice president herself does not have a strong track record when participating in debates. As such, he predicted that this presidential debate would mark “the beginning of the end” for Harris’s campaign.
Donalds also encouraged former President Donald Trump to question why Harris wants to help voters when she has already been in power for over three years. Additionally, Donalds said one topic Trump needs to push Harris on is her involvement in hiding President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and why she did not encourage the president to work toward securing the southern border and addressing inflation.
“The American people see the travesty of the Harris-Biden administration,” Donalds said. “They want Donald Trump back. There is a major pressure on her, and to be honest with you, I do not believe she is going to be able to get the job done tomorrow night.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has similarly been critical of the Biden-Harris administration and stated that Harris cannot run on continuing the work of the current administration’s “train wreck.” He also said that he hopes Trump will compare his presidential record with Harris’s record as this would allow voters to compare the two candidates and their policies.
On Monday, Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign’s national press secretary, previewed the former president’s strategy for the debate, stating he is “very well read” on Harris’s history as a politician. She stated that the vice president would “finally” be held accountable for her sudden flip-flopping on various policies.
