Kaylee McGhee White rebukes defense for Harris dodging press: ‘Ironic’ – Washington Examiner
In a recent discussion on Fox News’s *The Faulkner Focus*, Kaylee McGhee White criticized the defense of Vice President Kamala Harris’s avoidance of the press on the campaign trail. She compared the justifications for Harris’s actions to those made in defense of President Joe Biden following his debate against former President Donald Trump. White and former Democratic state senator David Carlucci debated whether Harris and Trump should engage in more debates to present their policies to the voters. During the discussion, Carlucci claimed Biden withdrew from the race due to a lack of energy, to which White responded skeptically, referencing Carlucci’s earlier confidence in Biden. She concluded that Harris’s evasiveness suggests she would serve as a figurehead if elected, similar to Biden. The conversation underscored concerns about both candidates engaging effectively with the electorate.
Kaylee McGhee White rebukes defense for Harris dodging press: ‘Ironic’
Kaylee McGhee White dismissed those defending Vice President Kamala Harris’s avoidance of the press on the campaign trail, comparing such arguments to people defending President Joe Biden after his debate against former President Donald Trump.
White, the Restoring America editor for the Washington Examiner, partook in a panel with David Carlucci, a former Democratic state senator from New York, to discuss how the most recent presidential debate did not shift much support to either Harris or Trump. Carlucci contended that Harris and Trump ought to debate again so Harris can lay out her policies to voters, prompting Fox News host Harris Faulkner to interrupt and ask why the vice president cannot do more interviews.
Carlucci also claimed that Biden chose not to continue his presidential bid because he “didn’t have the energy” to campaign against Trump. After the two interrupted each other over Harris doing another debate or more interviews, Faulkner offered White the closing statement.
“Well, I’ll just say it’s ironic to hear David even defend Biden as not having enough energy because you were on air two days before Joe Biden dropped out insisting that Joe Biden was about to have a comeback moment,” White said on Fox News’s The Faulkner Focus. “So forgive me if I take your political analysis here with a massive mountain of salt.”
Carlucci then quickly interjected that the two presidential candidates should debate, prompting Faulkner to respond that Harris should do interviews and news conferences “that are not scripted.”
Earlier in her appearance on the panel, White argued Harris is telling voters two messages with her “deliberate evasion” of the public. One is that, like Biden, she would enter office “as a shell of a president” for someone else to use. White added that while Harris is campaigning as a centrist candidate, she would likely follow Biden’s footsteps and rule in a manner much more in line with the Democratic Party.
Post-debate polling data among 3,317 likely voters put Harris ahead of Trump 50% to 45%, with a margin of error of 2 percentage points. The poll also found Harris’s support only increased by about 1% after the debate.
Harris conducted her first solo interview as a presidential candidate with a local station in Philadelphia on Friday. During the interview, she offered no new explanations for her policies. She also said she is a more qualified candidate than Trump to unite the country, as he and his campaign create “hate and division.”
