Vice President Kamala Harris, fresh off a strong debate performance against former President Donald Trump, is enjoying her first positive favorability ratings in more than three years.

The Five Thirty Eight and Real Clear Politics polling averages showed Harris’s favorables break even Tuesday morning.

The vice president scored 46.6% favorable to 46.5% unfavorable on Five Thirty Eight’s average, with her last positive rating coming in July 2021.

The Real Clear Politics average showed Harris jumping back above water on Sept. 9, the day before her debate with Trump, and sat at 48.9% favorable to 47.5% unfavorable on Tuesday.

For comparison, Trump posts net negative favorable ratings in the Five Thirty Eight and Real Clear Politics averages, 9.6 and 8.1 points underwater, respectively.

Since the debate, Harris has slowly opened up a lead on Trump in national general election polls. The Real Clear Politics average had her leading Trump by 2 points Tuesday morning, while Five Thirty Eight showed her advantage just shy of 3 points.

The race remains incredibly close in the seven battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Still, polling has yet to reflect the second assassination attempt against Trump in the past two months.

Democrats don’t seem to think the incident will slow Harris’s building momentum.

Multiple Democratic operatives with ties to Harris’s campaign told the Washington Examiner the would-be assassination affords Harris a chance to demonstrate she can rise above partisan vitriol and appear presidential.
