The incident occurred while Trump was golfing, when a suspect armed with an AK-47-style rifle was discovered hiding nearby. Habba emphasized Trump’s bravery and commitment, arguing that this resilience is a testament to his fitness for presidency. She also criticized comments made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton regarding media narratives about Trump, suggesting they would be considered insurrectionist if made by Trump or his aides. The White House has rejected the idea that Democratic leaders are inciting political violence by labeling Trump a threat to democracy.

Trump senior adviser Alina Habba said the former president has no plans to change his campaign strategy after the most recent assassination attempt, as he has “no fear” in continuing his work.
The second attempt to take former President Donald Trump’s life occurred while the president was out golfing with friends Sunday when a suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was hiding in bushes with an “AK-47-style rifle” before fleeing the scene, according to law enforcement. Despite this, the former president has made no plans to adjust his campaign rally schedule, with Habba arguing Trump’s bravery is why he should be president again.
“The man has no fear in the face of opposition,” Habba said on Fox News’s The Story with Martha MacCallum. “He is absolutely determined to save this country. If anybody ever had any doubt, this is just the proof that you will never get out of any debate, out of any speech, out of any rally. This is who the man is. He was off the course and cared more about whether his friend, Steve Witkoff, was okay than himself.”
Habba was also asked about recent comments from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who questioned why the press is unable to have “a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is.” Habba argued Clinton’s language would be deemed “insurrectionist” if Trump or any of his aides had said it and that Clinton encouraging the press to continue to raise the political temperature on Trump is “the most disturbing thing I have ever seen.”
The White House has dismissed the possibility that Democrats, including President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, are stoking political violence by referring to Trump as a “threat to democracy.” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted that Biden contacted Trump shortly after the shooting to check in on the former president.
On Monday, NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo argued that “the blame for the dynamic” of political divisions across the country is “everywhere.” He also asked for unity within the country, stating that Patrick Henry’s “united we stand, divided we fall” statement is “even more true today.”
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Trump’s running mate, stated Tuesday that he does not know whether or not Trump has requested extra security after the second assassination attempt. He also warned that should an assassin successfully kill a presidential candidate, it would create “a rift and a wound in this country” that would never heal.
