Lindsey Graham warns Harris will continue Biden’s ‘insane’ Middle East policies – Washington Examiner
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expressed concerns that the foreign policy disruptions seen in the Middle East under President Joe Biden will persist if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the 2024 election. In an interview on Fox News, Graham argued that both Biden and Harris made significant errors, such as the withdrawal from Afghanistan and lifting sanctions on Iran, leading to instability in the region. He emphasized that groups like Hezbollah and Hamas would not exist without Iran’s influence, and pointed to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as a major threat, warning that he is close to acquiring nuclear weapons. Graham criticized Harris for her perceived lack of support for Israel, referencing her absence during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress, and suggested Israel should take more aggressive actions against Iran’s oil infrastructure to counter threats from Hezbollah.
Lindsey Graham warns Harris will continue Biden’s ‘insane’ Middle East policies
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) cautioned that the disruptions happening in the Middle East under President Joe Biden’s watch will continue under Vice President Kamala Harris if she wins the 2024 election.
Several Republicans, including Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) and Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), have called on the Biden administration to focus on Iran to end the conflict within Gaza, with Graham arguing that neither Hezbollah nor Hamas would exist without Iran. He added that both Biden and Harris oversaw “the two dumbest decisions in modern times” — the Afghanistan withdrawal and the removal of Iran’s sanctions.
“We’re reaping what Biden has sown,” Graham said on Fox News’s Hannity. “The people of Israel are reaping the bad policy choices of Biden and Harris. The chickens have come home to roost with this idea of coddling the Ayatollah. He’s not normal, he’s a religious Nazi, he wants to kill all the Jews, he wants to purify Islam, and come after us, and Harris will continue these insane policies.”
Graham’s comments on the Ayatollah were in reference to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The senator previously warned that Khamenei is “on the verge” of obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Graham also rebuked Harris for skipping Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before Congress in July, accusing her of letting “the Left tell her where to go and what to do.”
He then made a call for Israel to threaten Iran’s oil business if the country experienced a major attack from Hezbollah.
“Let’s go to the root of all evil, the great Satan, the Iranians,” Graham said. “To my friends in Israel, knock out the oil refineries of Iran to get them off your back.”
The South Carolina senator also addressed the recent controversy regarding Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, the North Carolina Republican gubernatorial nominee, after a report claimed he posted a number of controversial comments on a forum of a pornographic website between 2008 and 2012. Graham contended that the details of the report were “unnerving” and that Robinson was unfit for office “if they’re true.” He added that if the report was incorrect, Robinson ought to sue CNN, the network that released the report.
Robinson has vowed that his team will pursue “legal counsel” against CNN, and he’d come “full throttle” after the outlet. This comes after his campaign announced Sunday the resignation of four staff members.
