Cotton warns Iran wants Trump out of the 2024 race: ‘Harris will continue to appease’ – Washington Examiner
Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas, has expressed concerns about Iran’s interference in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, claiming that the country is trying to remove former President Donald Trump from the race. Cotton asserts that Iran prefers Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump, believing that Harris would be easier to manipulate, similar to President Joe Biden. He argues that Iran fears a return of Trump, as he would take a firmer stance against their actions in the Middle East. During an appearance on Fox News, Cotton criticized the Biden administration for its inaction regarding perceived threats from Iran, calling their response inadequate and suggesting that Trump’s approach would be significantly more assertive. He also condemned the administration for not providing sufficient security for Trump amid recent assassination attempts, implying that the responsibility lies with President Biden. The senator challenges the leadership of Biden and Harris in light of various global conflicts arising during their time in office.
Cotton warns Iran wants Trump out of the 2024 race: ‘Harris will continue to appease’
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) argued Iran’s interference in the 2024 presidential election is due to its desire to remove former President Donald Trump from the race.
Cotton, a frequent critic of the Biden-Harris administration, explained that Iran “clearly” favors Vice President Kamala Harris because the country will be able to “walk all over” her in the same way it has with President Joe Biden. He added that Iran and its leadership do not want Trump back in power because the former president will “finish the job” in stopping Iran from spreading further chaos in the Middle East.
“Kamala Harris will continue to appease Iran; that’s why Iran is trying to kill him and hack into his campaign,” Cotton said on Fox News’s One Nation with Brian Kilmeade. “And what does the Biden administration do about it? Nothing. They send out Merrick Garland and Tony Blinken, both of whom are impotent just like their boss, to give some mealy-mouthed statement. What did Donald Trump say? That if this happened on his watch, he would blow the country and its city to the smithereens. That’s the kind of strong, clear, unequivocal message that an adversary like Iran needs to hear, and they’re not hearing it from the Biden administration.”
Cotton also criticized the Biden administration’s “pathetic” inability to grant additional Secret Service protection to Trump, who was recently advised by Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) to beef up his own personal security after two assassination attempts. Cotton contended that since the Secret Service answers to Biden, the responsibility lies with the president to provide that extra protection to Trump.
The Arkansas senator then questioned how Biden or Harris could justify their leadership when numerous conflicts have erupted under their watch. He cited how before Biden entered the White House, the world never saw “the largest land war in Europe since World War II” or “the worst slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust,” a reference to the Hamas terrorist group’s attack on Oct. 7.
“It’s the worst administration on foreign policy since Jimmy Carter,” Cotton said. “Frankly, it makes Jimmy Carter look like Ronald Reagan.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has asked the FBI and other U.S. agencies to find out how Iran was able to enact a cyberattack on Trump’s campaign. He contended there is much work to be accomplished ahead of the election to prevent Iran from tipping the election in favor of Harris, whom he deemed the Middle Eastern country’s “preferred candidate.”
