Sununu says Harris is ‘risk-adverse’ and not ‘willing to be uncomfortable’ – Washington Examiner
Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for being “risk-averse” in her campaign strategy, suggesting that she should engage more with voters outside of Washington, D.C. During an appearance on “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade,” Sununu emphasized the importance of taking risks in campaigning, such as holding town hall meetings and connecting with voters directly. He noted that President Joe Biden successfully flipped several key states in the 2020 election by conducting frequent rallies. Sununu pointed out that Harris has limited time to campaign effectively, as she only recently announced her candidacy after Biden’s withdrawal. He urged Harris to break free from the “bubble” of Washington to truly engage with constituents.

Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) criticized the Kamala Harris campaign for not leaving the “bubble” of Washington, D.C., and traveling more as her opponent, Donald Trump, is busy on his own campaign trail.
President Joe Biden flipped Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia in 2020 by holding frequent rallies there. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris will only have four months to win them over since she announced her campaign in July when Biden dropped out of the race. Sununu responded to criticisms that Harris doesn’t travel enough on One Nation with Brian Kilmeade Saturday.
“[Harris] is risk-averse, and in a campaign, you got to be willing to take risk. You have to be willing to be uncomfortable. You have to be willing to go places maybe your team doesn’t think you’ll be 100% accepted; that’s OK,” Sununu said. Go in, have the conversation, do a retail stock, let people know where you are, and let people know their voice is heard,” Sununu said. “Washington is in a bubble. It is not doing anything. It is completely lost.”
While Harris has visited Wisconsin five times since July and stopped in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia. She visited Michigan for the first time since launching her campaign Friday. Trump, however, has been on the trail since the fall of 2022 and was in Butler, Pennsylvania, Saturday, to revisit the site where a shooter attempted to assassinate him.
“When he [Trump] makes those stops, every single one of these retail stops on the ground is telling the people in those communities: ‘I care about you think. I’m not just here to talk to you — you can see that on an ad — I care about what you guys think. I want to get that feedback. I want to get that input,’” Sununu said. “And that shows people that it’s going to be an administration that has a better connection to what’s going on on the ground than what we have today.”
Sununu previously endorsed former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, but has since given his support to Trump when he became the Republican nominee. Haley has also since endorsed the former president.
