Hezbollah launches over 300 projectiles into Israel over Yom Kippur weekend, IDF says – Washington Examiner
During the Yom Kippur weekend, Hezbollah launched over 300 projectiles into Israel, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The group claimed their actions targeted a “gathering of Israeli enemy forces” in northern Israel, resulting in injuries to three men due to shrapnel. Additionally, Israeli President Isaac Herzog mentioned that a drone strike hit a retirement home in Herzliya, which housed Holocaust survivors, though no residents were harmed. This attack adds to the escalating tension as Israel faces threats from both its northern and southern borders, with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad claiming responsibility for different projectiles fired from Gaza. The situation is further complicated by the recent death of a senior PIJ commander in an Israeli airstrike.

Hezbollah launched over 300 projectiles into Israel over Yom Kippur weekend, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The Lebanese terrorist group claimed it was targeting a “gathering of Israeli enemy forces” in northern Israel. Three men were injured, all from shrapnel.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said a drone hit a retirement home in the city of Herzliya, located to the north of Tel Aviv. The residents of the home include Holocaust survivors, none of whom were injured.
The attack comes as Israel is facing fire from both the north and the south, after the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist organization and ally of Hamas, claimed responsibility on Saturday for two projectiles that were launched from northern Gaza into the city of Ashkelon, located in southern Israel. On Thursday, Israel said they killed the head of the PIJ, Mohammad Abdullah, in an airstrike on the central West Bank.
According to CNN, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a Cabinet meeting on Sunday, as the Jewish nation weighs a response to the Iranian missile barrage launched on Oct. 1.
The IDF also declared a closed military zone in northern Israel on Saturday.
“Following a situational assessment, the areas of Zar’it, Shomera, Shtula, Netu’a, and Even Menachem in northern Israel will be declared a closed military zone as of 20:00 today (Saturday). Entry to this area is prohibited,” the IDF said.
President Joe Biden spoke with Netanyahu by phone on Wednesday for the first time since August, during which Biden expressed that Israel has the right to defend itself from Hezbollah, while also cautioning about civilian casualties in Beirut, Lebanon, according to a White House readout of the call.
The Hezbollah attack on Friday going into Saturday occurred during Yom Kippur, an important Jewish holiday.
