Virginia trending for Trump, second poll shows race nearly tied – Washington Examiner

A recent poll ‍indicates a competitive race in Virginia for ⁤the⁣ upcoming presidential election, with former President Donald Trump trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by just two points (48%-46%). This is significant‍ as ⁤it follows another poll suggesting Virginia could potentially support a Republican candidate for president for the first time⁤ in two decades. The results could be concerning‍ for Democrats, who have been confident in their stronghold⁣ on the state while largely ‍neglecting it in their campaign strategies. Trump is increasing his campaign presence in Virginia,⁢ and both parties are intensifying their efforts as the election approaches, given the ⁣state’s history of ⁣voting Democratic since 2004. The situation marks a pivotal moment for both candidates in a state that has become a key focus for their campaigns.

Virginia trending for Trump, second poll shows race nearly tied

A week after a voter survey showed that Virginia could pick a Republican for president for the first time in 20 years, a second poll, out today, backed those results in what would be a boost for the comeback campaign of former President Donald Trump.

Rasmussen Reports shared a poll today that found Trump was trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by just two points, 48%-46%.

A Trump victory would be a shock to Democrats in Virginia, who have been so confident of a Harris win that they have largely ignored the commonwealth where Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) is cruising to reelection, as are several House Democratic candidates.

Trump is planning to stop in Virginia this week as part of an intensified, 11th-hour campaign schedule. Harris supporters are also turning up the heat in Virginia, which has voted for every Democratic presidential nominee since former President George W. Bush won the state in 2004.

“A new telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports and American Thinker finds that, if the election were held today, 48% of likely Virginia voters would vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, while 46% would vote for former President Donald Trump. Four percent (4%) say they would vote for some other candidate, while another three percent (3%) are still undecided. In 2020, President Joe Biden beat Trump by a 10-point margin in Virginia,” said the polling outfit in its analysis.

American Thinker Managing Editor Andrea Widburg said, “Voters are unhappy with the status quo and are worried about election integrity.”

Rasmussen also surveyed Texas voters, sponsored by American Thinker, and found that Trump is leading Harris, 50%-44%. In the Texas Senate race, like in Virginia, the incumbent is winning. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is holding a four-point lead over challenger Rep. Colin Allred, 47%-43%.

In both states, the top concerns voters are considering are the economy, immigration, and abortion.
