Trump: ‘Big mistake’ for Michelle Obama to attack me- Washington Examiner
Former President Donald Trump responded to criticisms from former First Lady Michelle Obama, labeling her remarks as a “big mistake.” At a rally in Atlanta, Trump recounted how he had always tried to remain respectful but felt provoked by Obama’s comments. He pointed out that Obama had been “nasty” towards him, suggesting that her critiques opened up a dialogue he wasn’t prepared for. This confrontation arose after Obama had delivered a speech in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she condemned Trump’s perceived “gross incompetence” and highlighted various controversies surrounding him, including allegations related to his mental fitness and past legal issues.
Trump hits back at Michelle Obama after insults: ‘Big mistake that she made’
Former President Donald Trump went after former first lady Michelle Obama over a slew of criticisms that she directed at him over the weekend and called her attacks a “big mistake.”
“You know who was nasty to me? Michelle Obama,” said Trump, speaking to a crowd at an election rally in Atlanta Monday evening. “I always tried to be so nice and respectful. Oh, did she open up a little bit of a box. She opened up a little bit of something. Yeah, she was nasty — shouldn’t be that way, that was a big mistake that she made.”
Obama criticized Trump during a speech in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she implored voters not to ignore Trump’s “gross incompetence.”
“I hope that you’ll forgive me if I’m a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental decline, his history as a convicted felon, a known … a known slumlord, a predator found liable for sexual abuse, all of this, while we pick apart Kamala’s answers from interviews that he doesn’t even have the courage to do, y’all,” Obama said on Saturday while campaigning with Harris in the battleground state.
Obama said that Harris is held to a different standard than Trump. Harris has been criticized by Republicans recently for responses in media interviews.
“I am asking y’all, from the core of my being, to take our lives seriously. Please. Do not put our lives in the hands of politicians. … Do not hand our fate over to the likes of Trump, who knows nothing about us, who has shown deep contempt for us. Because a vote for him is a vote against us,” said Obama.
Trump said in Atlanta that Harris was “grossly incompetent.”
“What a rotten job. She’s grossly incompetent,” said Trump. “She’s more incompetent than Biden, and I didn’t think that was possible.”
Obama is scheduled to descend on Atlanta for a When We All Vote rally Tuesday. When We All Vote is a nonpartisan organization that encouraged civic involvement and voting, though a number of its co-chairpersons have endorsed Harris.
Trump will campaign in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Tuesday and then head back south to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Wednesday.
