Gas prices in the United States saw a slight ‍decrease as the national average ⁢for a gallon⁤ of⁤ regular gas dropped to $3.131, down from‌ $3.135 earlier in the week. This marks a decrease⁣ from ⁢last week’s average of $3.15⁢ and a significant drop from a month ago ‌when prices averaged $3.216. The current price is ​the lowest since January 2024.

Gas prices on Thursday were less expensive than a week ago, when the national average for regular gas was $3.15 per gallon. Prices today are also less expensive than a month ago, when drivers paid $3.216 for a gallon of regular gas. Moreover, the current price is the least expensive gas has been in the country since January 2024, when the average price was $3.075.

Delaware

Gas prices in Delaware fell to under $3 per gallon on Thursday, as the new price for a gallon of regular gas is $2.988. This was an over 2-cent decrease from Wednesday’s price of $3.013. After a sharp increase earlier this month, gas prices in the First State have been trending downward as well. A week ago, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.057, and a month ago, it was $3.193.

Virginia

Gas prices also fell in Virginia on Thursday, dropping to $3.033 for a gallon of regular gas, a nearly 1-cent drop from Wednesday’s price of $3.042. Like other states in the Delmarva region, Virginia’s gas prices have been trending downward. A week ago, a gallon of regular gas cost $3.057. However, gas prices are slightly more expensive in the state on Thursday than a month ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.006.

Washington, D.C.

Gas prices also dropped in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. The average price for a gallon of regular gas fell to $3.267, a decrease of over 2 cents from Wednesday’s price of $3.29. Gas prices in the state have hovered in this price range for the last month. A week ago, a gallon of regular gas in Washington was $3.286. This is slightly cheaper than a month ago, when the price of regular gas was up to $3.304 per gallon.

Texas

Texas has the cheapest gas prices nationwide, coming in at $2.68 per gallon on Thursday. This was a decrease from a week ago in the Lone Star State when a gallon of regular gas cost $2.712. A month ago, a gallon of regular gas in Texas cost $2.734.

Hawaii

Hawaii has returned as the state with the most expensive gas prices in the nation, edging out California, which held this distinction for the last two months. On Thursday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Hawaii is $4.594. This represents a slight increase from a week ago, when the price was $4.591. A month ago, gas prices in the Aloha State were ever-so-slightly more expensive, with a price of $4.598.
