Trash talk: Jason Miller says Trump speaks to ‘all Americans’ with garbage man stunt
Jason Miller, senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, explained that the former president’s garbage truck stunt demonstrated the “contrast” between his campaign and Vice President Kamala Harris’s.
The footage of Trump wearing an orange vest while driving a trash truck, wrapped in a “Trump 2024” ad, was released a day after President Joe Biden deemed the former president’s supporters “garbage.” While Miller was not able to provide specific details on how the Trump campaign was able to organize its stunt so quickly, he did reveal that “it was President Trump’s ideas,” adding that the former president has “some great supporters” in the state of Wisconsin where the stunt was performed.
“But, Laura, I think the panel is really on top of this because it’s not just what President Trump is saying, he’s going to fix the economy and secure the border, but it’s who he’s saying it to, which is all Americans,” Miller said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. “That is such a contrast to Kamala Harris running this campaign of hate and division. As we get down to next Tuesday, as Americans, the few undecideds that are left, people say, ‘Well, maybe I’m leaning Trump, but I don’t know if I will show up and vote,’ they see these images, they see he is taking it serious. They also see that they’ve been personally offended by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden calling them garbage, that they want to get out there and vote for President Trump.”
Miller also said Trump will visit New Mexico on Thursday and Virginia on Saturday in the last few days of the 2024 presidential race. While Democratic presidential candidates have commonly won both of these states in the past, Miller contended that Harris is not playing offense in them, meaning they are “still in play” for the former president.
The Trump campaign’s plan to flip New Mexico and Virginia was also previewed with Miller’s suggestion that many demographics in these states that have previously supported Democrats have been neglected by the party and are now moving toward Trump. Miller also argued that the Democratic Party’s support from celebrities such as Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez could hurt Harris instead of helping her, as neither of these endorsements detailed what Harris would do as president to help voters.
Trump’s ambitions to flip Virginia in the Electoral College came after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to allow the state to remove an estimated 1,600 people identified as noncitizens from its voter rolls, a move Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) deemed “a victory for common sense.” On Monday, a Rasmussen Reports poll found that Trump is only trailing Harris by two percentage points in the state.
The Washington Examiner’s Byron York has previewed how Trump can win the 2024 Electoral College by winning all the states he won in 2020, along with winning back Georgia and Arizona. If Trump does this, York argued the former president only needs to win one of the other three swing states, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, or Michigan, to win the election.
