Trump campaign contends tight polling is ‘covering’ for voter turnout – Washington Examiner

The Trump campaign ‌has expressed confidence despite polling ⁢data indicating a tight race‍ between former ⁣President Donald Trump and‌ Vice President ‌Kamala Harris just days before Election Day. Political director James ⁢Blair ⁢argues that these polls underestimate Trump’s support, suggesting there’s a significant discrepancy in ⁢how respondents are counted, with an overrepresentation of Democrats. Blair claims that the electorate has shifted rightward ‌compared‌ to the 2020 ⁤election, reflecting early voting trends. He points to states like Pennsylvania and Nevada, noting that ⁢Republican voter registrations have outpaced Democrats in⁢ these areas. Trump’s campaign is actively ‍engaging younger male voters through podcasts and other outreach efforts, believing that this demographic could be critical ⁢for his election success.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign assured it is not stressing over polling data showing Trump virtually tied with Vice President Kamala Harris right before Election Day, suggesting electorates are moving “to the right.”

Recent data from the New York Times/Siena College poll found that white Democratic voters were 16% more likely to respond compared to their Republican counterparts, raising the question of whether Trump’s voter turnout is being underestimated. As such, the Trump campaign’s political director, James Blair, suggested the polling data is “covering” for an underrepresentation of the former president’s support come Election Day.

“Look, in all of those polls and all the battleground states,” Blair said on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom, “they’ve set the electorate to the left of 2020, which doesn’t comport with what we know, which is that all of these electorates have moved to the right — just on a registration eligible electorate basis itself. And obviously, we see that starting to manifest in the early voting patterns.”

Blair added that the data had “too many Democrats” in it without enough Republican respondents to balance the results out but that the New York Times opted to publish the poll regardless.

The director was also asked about how Trump is doing among younger male voters, with some suggesting this voting bloc could win Trump the election should they choose to vote. In response, Blair pointed to states, such as Pennsylvania and Nevada, where residents are required to register tovote by party affiliation, which has shown Republicans outpacing voter registration in these states.

As part of Trump’s outreach to younger male voters, the former president has appeared on numerous podcasts that appeal to this voting bloc ahead of the election, most notably The Joe Rogan Experience, which has garnered over 44 million views on YouTube and almost 20 million views on X. Trump has poked fun at Harris for not appearing on the same podcast, joking “she can’t handle the presidency” if she could not do an interview with Joe Rogan.

In the 2024 presidential race’s twilight hours, Trump will spend the last two days in rallies held in swing states, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. His last rally before Election Day, set for Monday night, will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
