Dana Bash questions if Harris had ‘enough time’ to sway voters – Washington Examiner
In anticipation of election results on Tuesday, CNN’s Dana Bash raised concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris’s effectiveness in introducing herself to voters, considering her campaign has been much shorter than that of former President Donald Trump. While Trump has been campaigning for about two years, Harris began her presidential bid only 107 days prior to the election. Bash’s remarks followed a discussion with fellow anchor Audie Cornish, who noted that both parties would need to analyze voter turnout, especially if it falls short of the 2020 election levels. She expressed skepticism over whether the time Harris had was sufficient to connect with undecided voters.
Dana Bash questions if Harris had ‘enough time’ to sway voters
Ahead of election results coming in Tuesday night, CNN’s Dana Bash expressed concern about whether Vice President Kamala Harris had “enough time” to introduce herself to voters, noting former President Donald Trump’s campaign has lasted much longer.
Bash’s comment was preceded by an assessment from fellow network anchor Audie Cornish, who argued both parties would have to find out what voters decided to stay home should this year’s voter turnout not match the 2020 election’s voter turnout. Harris launched her presidential bid right after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid in July, whereas Trump announced his 2024 candidacy in November 2022.

“Donald Trump has been running for two years, Kamala Harris has been running for 107 days,” Bash said. “So one of my big questions is, particularly with her candidacy, is whether that was just enough time to introduce herself to the country and to candidates who weren’t so dead set on voting for a Democrat or weren’t so sure about him, or whether she could’ve used a little bit more time.”
Bash’s argument comes a few months after former CNN anchor Don Lemon warned in late August that Harris could lose the election because voters were unfamiliar with her and she needed “to reintroduce herself to the public.”
In looking at exit polling, Chris Wallace has argued that Harris needs “a miracle” to win the election over the largely negative reception to voters. If Harris wins, Wallace contended that she convinced voters “she is part of the solution and not a part of the problem.”
