Biden doesn’t see Trump ‘as a Hitler wannabe’: Tiana Lowe Doescher – Washington Examiner
Tiana Lowe Doescher, a commentary writer for the Washington Examiner, observes that President Joe Biden’s recent meeting with President-elect Donald Trump indicates he does not regard Trump as a “Hitler wannabe” or a fascist. The meeting, which took place a week after the election was called in Trump’s favor, featured a cordial atmosphere where Biden welcomed Trump to the White House. According to Lowe Doescher, Biden’s friendly demeanor and his commitment to a smooth transition suggest a positive view of Trump, countering any extreme comparisons made by others, such as Vice President Kamala Harris, who previously likened Trump to Adolf Hitler.
Biden doesn’t see Trump ‘as a Hitler wannabe’: Tiana Lowe Doescher
Washington Examiner commentary writer Tiana Lowe Doescher pointed out that by meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, President Joe Biden has proven to have a good opinion of him.
On Wednesday, Biden met with Trump for the first time since the Nov. 5 election, a week after the election was called in Trump’s favor. The two were all smiles during their visit at the White House, where Biden told Trump, “Welcome back.”
“It was pretty clear that he did not actually view this man next to him as a fascist or as a Hitler wannabe. Because you don’t welcome them and promise what an efficient and effective transition you will have, which is what he said, which is what Karine Jean-Pierre said in response to the meeting,” Lowe Doescher said on Fox News at Night Wednesday.
Vice President Kamala Harris referred to Trump as the late Adolf Hitler in her brief campaign against him. Biden also referred to Trump as a “threat to democracy,” and at one point, he suggested that Trump be “locked up politically.”
“I mean, again, if they actually believed anything that they were saying, they would not be quite so sanguine,” Lowe Doescher said of Biden’s change of tune. “There would be a little bit of self-reflection about maybe Kamala Harris should have gone on Joe Rogan, maybe we should have come on Fox News more, maybe we should have talked to the other audience and 50% of America, you know, the 75 million of Trump voters that there were.”
“But instead, there’s no self-reflection because they don’t actually believe Donald Trump is Hitler. They understand that everything is going to be fine. This is a big country that was designed for people who have different opinions,” Lowe Doescher continued.
Not only did Trump win the Oval Office with 312 Electoral College votes, but he won the popular vote as well. The Republican Party went on to win the majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives, too.
