Ellen DeGeneres leaves US for UK following Trump victory – Washington Examiner
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has relocated to the UK following the 2024 presidential election, in which Donald Trump emerged victorious over Kamala Harris. DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have chosen to settle in the Cotswolds, leaving behind their Montecito, California home. Reports indicate that Trump’s win was a significant factor in their decision to move. Her Montecito residence was sold around the same time her comedy tour concluded. DeGeneres isn’t alone in her exodus; other celebrities, such as Eva Longoria, have also left the U.S. in response to the election results.

Comedian and former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has moved out of the United States in the wake of the 2024 presidential election, with no plans to return in the future.
DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to England after President-elect Donald Trump won the election against Vice President Kamala Harris. Friends of the comedian were informed that Trump’s victory was the main contributor to DeGeneres’s move, according to a report by TheWrap.
DeGeneres’s house in Montecito, California, one of several residences she owns, is roughly 90 minutes away from Los Angeles, which she has left in favor of Cotswolds, which is located in the southern part of England.
Noticeably, her Montecito home was sold at roughly the same time as her “Last Stand… Up” comedy tour wrapped up in Minneapolis. Previous stops on the tour, which started in mid-June, included San Diego, Seattle, and Boston.
DeGeneres is not the only celebrity who has packed their bags following the election. Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria has also left the United States, calling the country “dystopian.” She has since said Trump was not why she left the country, accusing the media of taking “some clickbait stuff.”
Meanwhile, radio host Charlamagne tha God said he has no plans to leave the U.S., questioning where he would even go if he did. He also underscored the need for the country to stay together, saying, “We gotta unify, in some way, shape, or form.”
Harris has appeared in public only a few times following her election loss, including her Nov. 6 concession speech at Howard University. On Tuesday, she retreated from the public eye to Kalaoa, Hawaii.
