AOC 2028 presidential run would be a ‘disaster’: Ex-Clinton adviser – Washington Examiner
A former adviser to President Bill Clinton, Doug Schoen, has expressed strong concerns regarding Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s potential presidential run in 2028, stating it would be a “disaster” for the Democratic Party. During an appearance on ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Schoen argued that the party needs to shift towards more centrist positions on cultural and fiscal issues, which he believes Ocasio-Cortez’s political stance contradicts. He emphasized the necessity for the Democratic Party to adopt greater fiscal discipline, indicating that her candidacy could hinder the party’s success.
AOC 2028 presidential run would be a ‘disaster,’ former Clinton adviser says
A former adviser to President Bill Clinton, Doug Schoen, said it would be a “disaster” if Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) runs for president in 2028.
“I believe the Democratic Party needs to move to the center on cultural issues and on fiscal issues, and be more fiscally disciplined and AOC represents the opposite,” said Schoen, who is a Democrat pollster and strategist, during a Friday appearance on ‘The Ingraham Angle.’
He continued, “I think if she runs, it would be a disaster for the party, and I think her chance of getting nominated would be nil.”
Schoen’s assessment of the 35-year-old congresswoman comes after speculation mounted that Ocasio-Cortez could be a possible Democrat candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
But as Squad members Reps. Cori Bush (D-MO) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) both lost their primary elections, Schoen asserted that voters don’t want the far-left progressive agenda promoted by AOC.
Ocasio-Cortez has made no public indications that she would make a run for president. However, Monica Crowley, former Trump assistant treasury secretary, said on ‘The Ingraham Angle’ that AOC shouldn’t be overlooked.
“Just a word of warning to the Republicans, to my party, do not underestimate AOC,” Crowley said on Friday. “She’s young, she’s vibrant, she’s attractive. I think she’s wrong on everything, but she does have real grassroots support, and all of the energy and activism in the Democrat Party remains with the revolutionary left of which she is a part.”
