Fetterman condemns attack against Nancy Mace – Washington Examiner
Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) condemned a physical attack against Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) in a recent social media post. He criticized the current political climate, describing it as “open season” for violence against those with differing views. Fetterman expressed concern over the normalization of such attacks and emphasized that condoning or rationalizing violence against individuals with opposing viewpoints is unacceptable. Fetterman condemns attack against Nancy Mace
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) rebuked the physical attack on Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) on Tuesday night. In a social media post on X, the senator criticized the current political climate, calling it “open season” for hurting people with different viewpoints.
“I condemn this attack—one that’s part of an emerging national conversation: Condoning, celebrating, or rationalizing the attack or execution of somebody with differing views,” Fetterman said in his post.
“Apparently it’s an open season on anyone if you disagree with them,” he added. “It’s unacceptable.”
Mace was injured when a “pro-trans man” allegedly attacked her at the Capitol while shaking her hand after a foster youth event. The congresswoman is a co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth. She posted about the encounter on her X account shortly after the incident.
“I was physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-tr*ns man,” Mace wrote. “One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine.”
“The Capitol police arrested the guy,” Mace added. “Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO.”
FAFO is an acronym for “f*ck around and find out.”
Later, Mace posted again, stating, “All the violence and threats keep proving our point. Women deserve to be safe. Your threats will not stop my fight for women.”
Capitol police arrested James McIntyre for the assault on Mace. McIntyre, 33, approached Mace to shake her hand after the event. Then, according to a police report, he took the congresswoman’s hand “with both of his hands and shook her arm up and down in an exaggerated, aggressive hand-shaking motion.”
Witnesses said that McIntyre briefly spoke with Mace before the virulent handshake and commented that “trans youth are also foster youth, and they need your support.”
