Whoopi Goldberg claims RFK Jr. is ‘setting up folks for shame’

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of *The View*, criticized Robert Kennedy Jr. for his⁤ comments on health ‌initiatives that emphasize lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. During the show, Goldberg argued⁢ that not everyone can achieve health improvements through dietary changes alone, noting that some ⁤individuals might potentially be‍ genetically predisposed to being larger. She expressed concern that Kennedy’s statements could lead to feelings of shame among those struggling with weight, suggesting that his viewpoint might overlook‌ the complexities of individual ‌health conditions.Goldberg shared her personal⁣ experience of losing weight with the help of medication, indicating that not all weight loss journeys are the same.

Whoopi Goldberg claims RFK Jr. is ‘setting up folks for shame’ over health push

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg accused Robert Kennedy Jr. of “setting folks up for shame” over his push for healthier food and exercise, arguing some people have health issues out of their control.

Since President-elect Donald Trump announced Kennedy’s nomination for Health and Human Services secretary, the nominee has stated the focus of the administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative should be on “lifestyle,” which includes “eating well.” In addressing Kennedy’s comments, as well as his criticism of the weight-loss drug Ozempic, Goldberg claimed on the ABC News talk show that some people are simply “born genetically larger,” and that addressing this requires more than a change in diet.

HOW TRUMP’S PROMISE TO ABOLISH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WOULD WORK

“You’re setting folks up for shame,” Goldberg said. “That’s what you’re trying — maybe you don’t know you’re doing. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m going to say you don’t know, you don’t realize what you do to people when you say stuff like that, because it doesn’t work for everybody. And I’m going to show you, sir, because I weighed close to 300 less than two years ago, and without the Manjaro, this would not have happened.”

TRUMP’S ‘NO TAXES ON OVERTIME’ PROPOSAL: WHAT TO KNOW

Goldberg added that health drugs cannot be taken “out of people’s hands if it can help,” questioning “what’s wrong” with these health drugs. Goldberg then claimed Elon Musk, who she has labeled the “real” vice president to Trump, is correct in wanting to lower the cost of these drugs to consumers.

Fellow co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin also shared her own take on the matter, stating there are “so many benefits” to these health drugs. She also predicted that Trump could potentially side with using these drugs to drive the narrative “he made America healthy, fit and skinny again,” noting that Trump himself could be using these drugs since he “slimmed down a little” while campaigning for president.

Trump’s campaign, however, largely rebuked Griffin’s speculation.

“Alyssa is a known liar and fraud who routinely fabricates falsehoods in a desperate attempt to stay relevant,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told the Washington Examiner. “Her entire worth as a human being – and she is barely one – is tied to lying about President Trump on her s***ty show The View. She has a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted her brain and moral compass. Instead, she should be answering questions about that fateful night she had at the Bombay Club where police were called.”

Earlier this month, Kennedy gained an unlikely ally in Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) when the Independent senator discussed Kennedy’s criticisms of the nation’s unhealthiness. He argued that people should be able to live “long” and “happy lives,” and that the nation’s food industry is an issue “we’ve got to deal with.”

Ahead of the confirmation vote for Trump’s Cabinet nominees, Kennedy was among the most favorably viewed by the public, alongside Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), the nominee for Secretary of State, Musk, the co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency, and Mike Huckabee, the nominee for Ambassador to Israel.
