WATCH: Pennsylvania inmates say Luigi Mangione’s conditions ‘suck’
Inmates at the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon in Pennsylvania said the conditions of Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, “suck.”
“Luigi’s conditions suck!” inmates at SCI Huntingdon shouted to reporters outside the prison fence, according to a video released earlier this week by NewsNation. “Free Luigi.”
The inmates communicated with shouts and flashing lights with the NewsNation team and appeared to joke with the reporters about Mangione watching the news.

“Can I just ask the guys, if they can hear me right now, to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ very loud. … Does Luigi have television in his single cell?” NewsNation host Ashleigh Banfield instructed correspondent Alex Caprariello to ask the inmates.
“No!” the inmates shouted back.
Caprariello appeared to laugh and find humor in the situation, and he described the inmates’ comments as a “hard roast.”
“According to the Department of Corrections, he’s got his own solitary cell. It’s not solitary confinement, but he’s by himself. It’s not dorm style,” he said. “I’m not sure exactly what those guys have going on in terms of a living situation. It sounds like they’re all clustered together.”
“Isn’t it interesting to see the accommodations that they have? They’ve got their own light switches. They’re obviously watching TV past any sort of 10:00 p.m. curfew. You know, they’re doing this for you.”
Mangione is contesting extradition to New York, and his lawyer has said the murder suspect plans to plead not guilty to Pennsylvania’s gun and forgery charges.
